My Amaan is a free app for learning duas from Hisnul Muslim, and reading and memorising the Quran. It is built and published by Shofiqul Islam.
My Amaan does not collect, store, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no login, and nothing that identifies you personally anywhere in the app. It does connect to a small number of outside services to deliver Quran content and recitation audio, and to send occasional notifications — each one is described plainly below.
No account, no tracking
My Amaan does not require an account or a login. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. The app uses no analytics and no advertising of any kind — no ad network, no advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels.
What the app stores on your device
My Amaan saves a small amount of information locally so it can remember how you use it:
- Which duas and surahs you've marked as learned
- Your saved/bookmarked duas
- Your Quran bookmarks and last-read position
- Settings — default reciter, font size, reader theme, and light/dark appearance
All of this is stored only on your own device. It is never sent to the developer or to any third party, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app. (Android's own device backup, if you have it turned on, may include this data as part of your normal Android backup to your Google account — that's a setting of your phone, not something My Amaan does or controls.)
Services the app connects to
My Amaan talks to a small number of outside services, purely to deliver content into the app. None of them receive anything that identifies you.
- A content proxy the developer runs — when you use the Memorise feature, the app requests chapter, verse and translation text through a small server the developer operates, which in turn fetches it from Quran Foundation's Content API. Only the chapter number, page number and recitation choice are sent as part of the request — no device ID, no account, nothing that identifies you. This exists so the credentials for Quran Foundation's API never have to be built into the app itself.
- Public Quran audio hosting — recitation audio (for Memorise and for listening while reading) is streamed directly from public Quran audio hosting (audio.qurancdn.com, and mirrors.quranicaudio.com for one reciter). These are plain file requests for an mp3 identified by chapter and verse number — nothing about you is sent. Audio is cached on your device after the first play, so repeat listens work offline.
- Push notifications — My Amaan can send occasional notifications (for example, Islamic date reminders) through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service. Every device that has notifications enabled is registered to a single shared topic — there's no per-person targeting, no account, and no profile built from this. Google's messaging infrastructure necessarily holds a device-level registration token to deliver the broadcast, which is how push notifications work on both Android and iOS; the developer never sees a list of individual users.
What the app does not do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or logins
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No advertising networks and no advertising identifiers
- No crash-reporting service that transmits personal data
- No personal data shared with, or sold to, anyone
Children's privacy
My Amaan is suitable for children and was originally built for the developer's own children, to help them learn duas and read the Quran. Because the app collects no personal data from any user, it collects none from children specifically either — there is no chat, no user-generated content, and no way to enter personal information anywhere in the app.
UK GDPR
My Amaan does not process personal data about you. The services listed above receive only anonymous, functional requests (which chapter, which page, which reciter) — never your name, your device identity, or anything else that identifies you. Where a request necessarily includes your IP address (true of any request on the internet), that is standard internet infrastructure rather than something the app collects or stores.
