My Namaz — Support

Need help with My Namaz? Here's how to get in touch, plus answers to a few common questions.

What My Namaz does

My Namaz calculates prayer times and the Qibla direction from your device's own location, entirely on-device. No accounts, no ads — see the privacy policy for the full detail.

Frequently asked questions

Does My Namaz work offline?

Yes. Once your location is set (automatically via GPS, or manually), prayer times and Qibla direction are calculated entirely on your device and need no connection. The only thing that needs a brief connection is looking up your town's name for display — the app works fine without it if you're offline.

Why might a prayer alert not fire?

On newer Android versions, exact alarms need a permission that can be revoked by the system or turned off in phone settings — check Settings within the app for an alarm-permission prompt if alerts have stopped. Aggressive battery-optimisation settings on some Android phones can also delay or block scheduled alerts; adding My Namaz to your phone's battery-optimisation exceptions usually fixes this.

How do I change the calculation method or Asr setting?

Open Settings and choose your preferred calculation method and Asr juristic setting (Hanafi or Standard) — these affect the exact times shown, particularly for Asr and Isha.

Can I use my mosque's own times instead of a GPS calculation?

Yes — in Settings, choose your mosque under Timetable Source instead of GPS Calculation. Supported mosques' begin and jamaat times are bundled with the app itself, so they work fully offline and don't depend on your location at all. There's currently no way to type in a location manually — if GPS calculation is what you want, the app relies on the device's own location for that.

I saw an "update recommended" prompt — what is that?

The app occasionally checks a small file on our own website to see whether a newer version is worth updating to. It's a suggestion, not a requirement — tap "Not now" and carry on using the app if you'd rather update later. See the privacy policy for exactly what that check does and doesn't send.

Does My Namaz collect my data?

No account, no personal data collected — see the privacy policy for exactly what the app's outside requests do and don't send.
